VeteranDouglas Lovell Of Manito Dies

Douglas R. Lovell, 77, of Manito, died at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 1989, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

He was born May 13, 1910, in Astoria, the son of Jesse and Grace (Garrett) Lovell.

Survivors include four sons, Bill of North Tonawanda, N.Y., Richard of Rockfield, Ky., Randy of Manito, and Danny of Forest City; six daughters, Becky Peplow of Manito, Cathy Hall of Metropolis, Juanita Robertson of Henry, Patricia Hardin of Peoria, Carol Kephart of Albuquerque, N.M., and Vickie Murphy of Canton; one sister, Blanche Wheeler of Henry; 25 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son and one daughter.

He was a truck driver for the Illico Gas Co. in Lincoln, retiring in 1982. He served in the Navy from 1925 to 1928.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito with Rev. Lester Wence officiating.

Maas Funeral Home in Manito was in charge of services.
