DELOS W. LYBARGER

Obituary of D. W. Lybarger

Delos W. Lybarger was born Jan. 22, 1862 at Astoria, Ill., where he grew to young manhood. On Dec. 28, 1884 he was married to Miss Alta Moe Heath and to this union four children were born.

In 1910 he and his family moved to South Dakota and located on a farm three and one-half miles northeast of Alpena where they lived for fourteen years.

On January 8, 1923, Mrs. Lybarger passed away, and soon afterwards Mr. Lybarger moved to the residence in the north part of Alpena which has since then been his home.

In 1924 he was married to Miss Hattie Rodman, and she passed on in 1938.

Mr. Lybarger recently suffered a stroke and he was taken to a Mitchell hospital where he was given the best medical skill and care, but he quietly died Sept. 11, 1940, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 19 days.

Mr. Lybarger was a member of the Masonic lodge at Vermont, Ill., and of the Methodist church of Alpena.

Mr. Lybarger was a good citizen and enjoyed his many friendships.

Three children preceded him in death: Ernest, Mrs. Roy Smith, and Mrs. Wyman Phinney. He leaves to mourn his loss, one daughter, Mrs. S. M. Taylor of Farmersburg, Ind.; two sons-in-law, Roy Smith and Wyman Phinney, who gave him devoted care; one sister, Amanda Hollinger of Astoria, Ill.; one brother, Joe Lybarger of Missouri; seven grandchildren, Lester Miller of Chicago; Charlotte, Keith, Betty, Lyle and Darlene Phinney of Huron, and Mrs. Ross Brewer of Wennsocket, and three great-grandchildren, Robert Ross and Mary Sandra Brewer, and Barbara Louise Miller, and a large group of friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 13, first from the Roy Smith home, and then from the Alpena Congregational church with Rev. J. W. Proper of the Methodist church officiating. Burial was made in Rest Haven cemetery in the family plot.

Brother Dies

Deloss Lybarger, aged 78, brother of Mrs. Isaac Hollinger of Astoria, died last Wednesday in a hospital in Mitchell, S. Dak., where he had been confined for some time. He was a former resident of Astoria.
