Sarah Margaret Swisher, daughter of John and Priscilla Swisher was born in Augusta county, Virginia, October 22, 1851. When a small child she came with her parents from Virginia to Illinois and located near Good Hope. A few years afterward they came to Astoria.

She was united in marriage to Roland Lutz and to them were born three children, all dying in infancy, the eldest reaching the age of nine months. When quite young she joined the United Brethren church in Astoria and was always very active in church and Sunday school work and in all things for the betterment of the community and the church. She left here in June 1919, to take up her residence at the Otterbin Home, Lebanon, Ohio where she had since made her home. About three months ago she was seized with her fatal illness and had been under the care of a nurse since that time.

She is survived by one brother, Newton Swisher, of Bushnell; one half brother near Astoria and two sisters, Mrs. Arbella Randolph and Mrs. Elizabeth Decker, near Good Hope.

Mrs. Lutz was a woman respected by old and young. The body arrived here on the afternoon train Tuesday and was taken directly to the church where a large number of friends assembled to hear the services and pay tribute of respect to one they loved.
