Summoned By Death

Marion Litchfield of Sheldons Grove died Saturday at the home of his son Dayton near Astoria, aged 64 years and 21 days.

The deceased was born at Sheldons Grove, Aug. 14, 1856. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Chockley, Sept. 3rd, 1887 and to them were born four children, Dayton and Mrs. Grace Poppenhager of near Astoria, Byron of Sheldons Grove and Della deceased.

The deceased was a well known citizen of that community and a man of a large circle of friends. He was industrious, a loving father and a help to the community in which he lived. The news of his death was a shock to his many friends, as many did not know of his serious illness.

Last January he submitted to an operation since which time he has been in poor health. All was done that loving hands could do to lessen his suffering but all in vain.

Funeral services were held Sunday at one o’clock at the Sheldons Grove church, conducted by Rev. John Davis. Interment in the cemetery near by.
