DONALD RAY LUPER

Prairie City Boy Killed

Donald Ray Luper, an 8-year-old lad, was knocked off a wagon by a sack of feed falling on him and was instantly killed while near the park in Prairie City about 5 o’clock Tuesday evening. He had crawled on the wagon, which was driven by A. C. Fitch, and was loaded with 25 sacks of feed, each sack weighing 100 pounds. The wheel of the wagon passed over the boy’s head, killing him instantly.

Donald with two other little companions, Ralph Mead and Robert Chambers had been playing in the yard and seeing the wagon going by ran out to take a ride. The wagon ran over a bump of some kind and one of the sacks was knocked down. It struck Donald who was riding on the brake, and knocked him off the wagon in front of the wheel. The did not ask Mr. Fitch for a ride but climbed on the wagon. A sack was picked up where it had fallen, near the boy.
