SUSANAH (ROSE) LINDSEY

Susan Lindsey

VERMONT — Died, at her home 4½ miles southeast of here on Tuesday, August 7th, Mrs. Susan Lindsey, aged fifty-five years. Her maiden name was Rose. She was the daughter of Wm. Rose and wife, early settlers in this part of the country. She was united in marriage to Hezekiah Lindsey and to them were born six children, four of whom, with their father survive her. Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey lived on one of the Wm. Rose farms near New Philadelphia. After the death of Mr. Rose when his estate was divided, she was allotted the farm one mile east of Rose Chapel, and they moved onto it, where they resided for some years, when, owing to her failing health they moved here, staying about three years when they moved back on the farm. She was very much attached to her home and devoted her life to her husband and children, yet always finding time to visit the sick and afflicted, proving herself the good Samaritan. She was never heard to say an ill word about her neighbors. She was a true christian lady. The funeral occurred from the Christian church here on the following Wednesday. Elder Marrollous Cooper, of the New Howard church, Pleasant township, and Elder G. W. Ross, pastor of the Christian church here, performed the last sad rites.
