Floyd KatzenburgerFloyd Katzenburger, 77, of Mount Sterling died Aug. 31, 2019, in Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born Jan. 4, 1942, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Floyd N. Katzenburger Sr. and his stepmother Betty (Toopes). He was adopted and raised by his grandmother, Nancy (Thomas) Katzenburger, when his father went off to defend his country in World War II. He married Karen K. Burnett on Dec. 3, 1960, in Mount Sterling. She survives.

Also surviving are three children, Randy (and Alana) Katzenburger of Timewell, Ronda Katzenburger of Rushville and Rebecca (and companion Steve Phillips) of Mount Sterling; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

He was a non-independent truck driver, working for several different companies and earning several safety awards. He was of the Christian faith.

In his younger years, he was a member of the Rushville Saddle Club. He did gunsmithing, woodworking, mechanic work and auto body repair.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Rushville City Cemetery. There will be no visitation, but friends are invited to the Cemetery for the services. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
