Howard "Earl" KimbroHoward “Earl” Kimbro, 97, of Macomb, formerly of Astoria, died at 5:36 a.m. May 8, 2015, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.

He was born March 11, 1918, in Greenville, the son of John and Evelyn Thaker Kimbro. He married Betty Peters on Aug. 23, 1947, in Mascoutah. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Ronnie Kimbro of Nashville, Tenn., Gary (and Marilyn) Kimbro of Browning and Todd Kimbro of Astoria; one daughter, Tammy (and Bill) Batterton of Astoria; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Tim Kimbro.

He was owner and operator of Western Auto Store in Astoria; worked at K.K. Stevens Publishing Company in Astoria; and retired from International Harvester.

He was in the United States Air Force as Staff Sargent, from 1946-52 during World War II and the Korean War.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pat Clements officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria with military rites provided by the Astoria American Legion Post #25.
