Edna L. Kirkham, 82, of Frederick died at 5:15 a.m. April 11, 2011, at the home of her son in Brooklyn.Edna L. Kirkham, 82, of Frederick died at 5:15 a.m. April 11, 2011, at the home of her son in Brooklyn.
She was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Sheldons Grove, a daughter of James and Margaret Ervin Bishop. She married Desmond C. "Squeak" Kirkham on March 6, 1946, in Virginia. He preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1997.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Lynn Kirkham; six brothers; and four sisters.
Surviving are four sons, George (and Karen) Kirkham and Desmond Jr. (and Cara) Kirkham, both of Rushville, Harold (and Bettrina) Kirkham of Huntsville and Roger (and Louann) Kirkham of Brooklyn; one brother, Harold (and Zelda) Bishop of Lockport; one sister, Joan (and Edgar) Kirkham of Beardstown; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was a certified nurse's aide working at Hill's Convalescent Home in Rushville, Myers Convalescent Home in Beardstown, Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville and in-home nursing care until retiring in 2003.
She was a member of Church of Christ "Christian" in Rushville.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Matt Haberman officiating. Burial will follow in Gillette Cemetery southeast of Rushville. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Friday.
