Chester Kapp

Chester M. Kapp, 83, of Astoria died at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Richford Township, Waushara County, Wis. He married Alma A. McKinley Keller on June 22, 1974, in Astoria. She died Nov. 28, 2001.

He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Darwin and Martin.

Surviving are one sister, Evelyn Schrank of Coloma, Wis.; one brother, Vilas (and Mary Jane) of Berlin, Wis.; one stepdaughter, Gartha Keller of Astoria; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Astoria Assembly of God Church.

During the war he worked at Badger Ordnance in Baraboo, Wis., and in Milwaukee at Harnishfeger Equipment Co. and American Motors. He worked several years as a welder in Friendship, Wis., before retiring and moving to Astoria.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Lester Burgard officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery in rural Astoria.

Memorials may be made to the Chester Kapp Memorial Fund at Farmers State Bank in Astoria.
