Frances Keeney, 96, of New Orleans for the past year, formerly of Vermont, died at 5:45 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2001, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans.
She was born Feb. 11, 1905, in Vermont, the daughter of Harry and Bessie H. Alexander Miller. She married Verne S. Keeney on Aug. 23, 1924. He died in 1986.
One daughter and two brothers also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Deborah Nunn of Edwardsville and Denise Creekmore of New Orleans; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She had been publisher of a Vermont newspaper for many years.
She was a member of Vermont Chapter C of the PEO and Ipava Order of the Eastern Star.
She also was a member of Vermont Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Vermont Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Corman Memorial Home in Roseville is in charge of arrangements.
