Dorthy Kief

Dorthy L. Kief, 86, of McHenry, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997, at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry. She was born Aug. 19, 1911, in Browning, a daughter of Fred and Idessia (Camp) Saul. She married Robert A. Kief on Jan. 8, 1938, in Chicago. He died Feb. 22, 1981. Also preceding her in death were her parents, an infant sister and one cousin, Richard Camp.

She was a 1929 graduate of Rushville High School and attended business school. She was employed at the Forest Park Bank until her retirement. She was a member of the “Willing Workers,” a senior citizen ladies’ group that made lap robes for veterans hospitals and handmade articles for various non-profit organizations. She donated her electric organ to the Browning United Methodist Church and gave a donation to have it transported from McHenry to Browning.

Graveside services were held Nov. 1 at Woodland Cemetery in McHenry. Arrangements were made by Peter M. Justen Colonial Funeral Home in McHenry.
