Edna Kirkbride

Edna E. Kirkbride, 100, of Vermont, died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville.

She was born Dec. 24, 1896, in Browning, a daughter of Adrian and Jeannette Lane. She married Ralph Kirkbride in September 1917. He died in 1959. Five brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Wendell (Jeanne) Farris of Galesburg; two grandchildren, William J. Farris of St. Paul, Minn., and Diana Davajon of Arlington Heights; and three great-grandchildren.

She received her education in Browning schools and she and her husband owned and operated a bakery in Blandinsville for many years. Following her husband’s death, she moved to Galesburg where she made her home with her daughter. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Galesburg.

Private family graveside services were held Monday at Vermont Cemetery with Rev. Harold Nelson officiating. Kost Memorial Home in Vermont was in charge of arrangements.
