Clifton G. Kessler, 87, of Vermont, vice president of the Ken-Ray Foundry in Vermont for 11 years before his retirement several years ago, died at 3 a.m. Friday at the McDonough District Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Vermont Christian Church. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Canton. Rev. Daniel Johnson conducted the services.
Mr. Kessler was born May 20, 1882, in Astoria, the son of Jacob R. and Matilda Chronister Kessler. He married Nellie Adaline Cameron on Aug. 27, 1905; she died Feb. 7, 1963.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, the IOOF, the Vermont Lodge No. 116 AF and AM, and a 60-year member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth C. Kessler of Vermont; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Switzer of Farmington and Mrs. Edna Ball and Mrs. Fern Bivens, both of Canton.
Two brothers and a sister died previously.
