Dr. Forrest JohnsonDr. Forrest Lee Johnson, 86, of Rushville died at 2:10 a.m. Aug. 13, 2015, at St. John’s Hospital Hospice in Springfield.

He was born March 4, 1929, in Torrance, Calif., the son of Raymond and Letha Atchely Johnson. He married Jacquie Wilamoski on Dec. 19, 1964, in Cambridge. She preceded him in death on June 3, 2005.

He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Kristy Hayes; and one sister, Mildred Urban.

Surviving are one son, Craig (and April) Johnson of Effingham; four daughters, Kathy (and David) Eifert of Centralia, Connie (and significant other Mike Franklin) Brink of Palmyra, Mo., Janice (and Garrick) Williams of Springfield and Amber (and Joe) Redshaw of Rushville; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and Korean Conflict, serving from 1947-51.

He graduated from Gardena High School in California in 1947. He also graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Loyola University School of Dentistry in 1958 and Chicago College of Dental Surgery. He was a dentist practicing in Rushville for 30 years and the Department of Corrections at Western Illinois Correctional Center in Mount Sterling for seven years, before retiring in 1997.

He was a member and an Elder at Rushville Presbyterian Church. He also was a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, Loyola University Alumni Association, XI-PSI-PHI Dental Fraternity, P.R.I.D.E. and the Schuyler American Legion Post #4 for 61 years.

Funeral services were held Monday at his church with Rev. Kay Daniel officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery with graveside military honors conducted by a U.S. Navy Honors Detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
