DoraLee JohnsonDoraLee Johnson, 95, of Blandinsville, formerly of Browning, died at 10:30 p.m. Aug. 31, 2012, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Macomb.

She was born Nov. 21, 1916, in Pike County, a daughter of Jack Andrew and Goldie Higdon Kirk. She married Virgil Alvin Johnson on Oct. 31, 1935, in Alton. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1977.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, William "Junior" Kirk; and five sisters, Anne Pearson, Hazel Ballantine, Elva Riley, Eleanor Gentry and Elizabeth Kirk.

Surviving are two sons, Brian K. (and Janice) Johnson of Blandinsville and Michael L. (and Ada) Johnson of Keokuk, Iowa; one brother, Joe Kirk of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Early in her married life, she worked at Illinois Glove Factory in Beardstown for many years. After her husband's retirement, they moved from San Jose back to Browning. While there, she was a member of Browning United Methodist Church. After his death, she began working with Meals on Wheels in Rushville and retired as the head cook in 1989. In 1990, she moved to Blandinsville to be near her sons and was a member of Blandinsville Christian Church.

There will be no service. Cremation has been accorded. Inurnment will be at Browning Cemetery in Browning. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
