Grant Johnson

Grant JohnsonGrant D. Johnson, 71, of Cuba died at 12:20 a.m. March 10, 2009, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Liverpool, a son of Woodrow W. and Mary Pollitt Johnson. He married Kathryn Orwig on Aug. 30, 1959, in Cuba. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Jerry (and Jan) Johnson of Byron; one daughter, Patty (and Dewey) Deushane of Cuba; one brother, Kent W. (and Janice) Johnson of Ellisville; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

He retired in 1987 from Caterpillar Mapleton Plant. He farmed for 40 years in rural Cuba.

He was a member of Fulton County Farm Bureau and UAW Local 974. He coached boys little league baseball and girls softball.

Services were held Friday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Jim Menne officiating. Burial was in Henderson Cemetery in rural Cuba.
