Frances Jacobsen

Frances I. “Jean” Jacobsen, 70, of South Pekin, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 1997, at a friend’s home in Pekin.

She was born March 8, 1927, in Ipava, a daughter of Jesse V. and Sylva E. Krider Shields. She married Paul C. Jacobsen on Dec. 20, 1973, in Pekin. He died Feb. 22, 1995, in Peoria. One sister and two stepsons also preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters, Carleene Wilson of South Pekin, Sylvia Ahten of Creve Coeur and Cathy Plachy of Southgate, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Judy Jacobsen, and one stepson, Dave Jacobsen, both of North Pekin; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and Peoria Area Blind People’s Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Abts Mortuary in Pekin with Rev. Gerald Verdun officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
