Virgil JonesVirgil JonesVirgil E. Jones, 80, of R.R. #4, Rushville, died at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1996, in Rushville.
He was born July 22, 1916, in Eldorado Township, the son of G. Edwin and Glendale Engle Jones. He married Dorothy Strong, Nov. 26, 1947, in Keosauqua, Iowa. She died on April 14, 1993.
Surviving are one son, Ed Jones of Rushville; one grandson, Steven Jones of Rushville; two step-granddaughters; one step-great-grandson; one sister, Mrs. George “Lavinia Jane” Schlueter of Beardstown.
A WW II Army veteran, he was a member of the Schuyler American Legion Post #4. He graduated from Adair High School, Hemphill Diesel School in Chicago and attended Western Illinois University in Macomb. He was a life long farmer.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Robert Belew officiating. Military services were conducted at the graveside by Schuyler American Legion Post #4. Burial was at the Bethany Cemetery north of Rushville.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
