MARCIE “JACK” JACKSON

Marcie Jackson

Marcie “Jack” Jackson, 60, of Metropolis, formerly of Bushnell, died at 7:08 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 1995, at Lourdes Hospital.

He was born Nov. 18, 1934 at Monroe City, Mo., a son of James and Ella Mae (Hill) Jackson. He married Margaret Dalrymple. She survives.

Also surviving are eight sons, Billy Jackson of Morgan, Ky., Lessie Jackson of Beaver Dam, Ky., Nicholas Jackson of Gilroy, Calif., John Slater of Bushnell, Benjamin Slater of Okinawa, Japan, Chuck Slater of Bushnell, Terry Slater of Macomb, and Arthur Slater of Ipava; one daughter, Wendy Oller of Beaver Dam, Ky.; two brothers, Charles of Bushnell and Robert of O’Fallon, Mo.; three sisters, Darlene Bown of Hannibal, Mo., Virginia Phears of Monroe City, Mo., and Patricia Scarborough of Hannibal, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Brenda Sosh, and one brother, James Jackson.

Mr. Jackson worked for Burlington Railroad, Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Chicago and owned and operated a Kerr-McGee station in Bushnell before moving to Metropolis to operate a similar station. After the station closed he became self-employed.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Gary L. Gray officiating. Burial was in Kingston Cemetery in Massac County.
