VeteranDean Jett Of Canton Dies

Funeral services were held Thursday for Dean Jett, 50, of 637 East Pine, Canton, who died at 3:30 a.m. Oct. 13 in Graham Hospital.

He was born Dec. 14, 1919, in Licking, Mo., the son of Robert and Mabel (Shumaker) Jett. On July 29, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo., he was married to Ardis Ward of Astoria, who survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Canton; two daughters, Mrs. Dollie Rhodes of Rushville and Mrs. Sandy Gray of Macomb; three sons, Gary Jett of Dunfermline, Steve Jett of Galesburg, and Bill Jett of Canton; and five grandchildren.

Other survivors include four brothers, Wayne Jett and Austin Jett, both of Canton, Raymond Jett of Jacksonville, and Leo Jett of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and one sister, Mrs. Goldie Travis of Rushville. One sister died earlier.

Mr. Jett was a partner in Jett’s Auto Repair in Dunfermline with his son, Gary. He was a veteran of World War II.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Oaks Memorial Chapel with the Rev. William Beauchat officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
