Former Fulton County School Teacher Dies, Funeral In Astoria

Mrs. Winifred Kirkbride Justus, 89, a Springfield resident since 1940 and prior to that of Fulton county in the Astoria vicinity died about noon Thursday in St. John’s hospital at Springfield, following a brief illness.

She had been a school teacher in Fulton county several years and was a member of the Astoria Christian church.

Born July 31, 1870, in Fulton county, a daughter of Marcus and Cecelia Kirkbride, she was married in 1894 to William L. Justus, who preceded her in death in 1939.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. H. P. Robinson of Springfield, a son, Paul, of St. Louis, three grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. J. A. Thomas of Havana. Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at the Astoria Christian church Saturday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Lee Carter Maynard. Burial was in Ipava cemetery.

The organist was Mrs. Richard Hoopes and pallbearers were James and Howard Roosa, Ronald Ranson, Harry Goode, Robert Thomas, Threll Brock.

The Shawgo Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.
