Alan IcenogleAlan M. Icenogle, 71, of Rushville died Dec. 25, 2022, in Macomb.

He was born Feb. 8, 1951, in Macomb, a son of Clement and Eleanor Grandt Icenogle. He married Karen Forrester on June 25, 1977, in Rockford. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Eric (wife Ciara) Icenogle of Macomb; one daughter, Lindsey Icenogle Lyells (husband Chris) of Athens, Ga.; one sister, Carol Icenogle Ashbacher (husband Richard) of Davenport, Iowa; two brothers, Robert Icenogle (wife Twila) of San Antonio, Texas, and Roger Icenogle (wife Judy) of Winslow, Mass.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, David Icenogle and Paul Icenogle.

He earned a bachelors degree in history and political science from Western Illinois University in 1973, and served as sports editor for The Macomb Daily Journal from 1972-82. He became editor of The Rushville Times in 1984. In February 2009, Alan and Karen Icenogle purchased The Rushville Times, and Alan continued as editor and publisher until the time of his death.

He was a co-founder of the United Way of Schuyler County, a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rushville and the Scripps Park Golf Course. He was a past member of the Rushville Rotary Club where he received a Paul Harris Fellow Award. For several years he served as an assistant cross country and track coach for Rushville High School and Rushville Middle School. A journalist for 48 years, he covered all sports in Rushville and Macomb schools and was dedicated to his local communities.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 31, at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
