Barbara HesseldenzBarbara Ann Chapin Hesseldenz, 88, of Rushville died at 9:42 p.m. Feb. 16, 2021, at her home.

She was born Oct. 17, 1932, in Butler, a daughter of Charles Albert “Hob” and Vesta Viola Marko Chapin. She married Rev. William “Bill” Hesseldenz on Feb. 15, 1952, in Carlinville. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 2009.

She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Louise Hesseldenz; and one sister, Norma Jean Chapin Spencer.

Surviving are one daughter, Janice Hesseldenz Cavaness of Highland; one son, Edward Hesseldenz of Rushville; one sister, Donna (and Jerry) Wynn of Rushville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was a stay-at-home mom. She played the organ for several years at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Granite City. When she became a pastor’s wife she played the organ and sometimes the piano for many of the churches she and Bill served. She was a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church in Rushville.

Private funeral services were held Saturday at Sugar Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Charla Meyers officiating. Burial was at the New Calvary Cemetery in Carlinville. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
