Sheila HackworthSheila A. Hackworth, 44, of Rushville died at 2:40 p.m. Sept. 17, 2018, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born Dec. 3, 1973, in Jacksonville, a daughter of John C. and Linda Schoon Smith. She married Danny Hackworth on Sept. 6, 1997, in White Hall. He survives.

Also surviving are two children, Ryan Hackworth and Rachel Hackworth, both of Rushville; her mother and stepfather, Linda (and Fred) Gillis of White Hall; one sister, Shelly (and Kevin) Langeland of Rushville; and one brother, Shaan (and Lori) Smith of Woodson.

She was preceded in death by her father.

A 1992 graduate of North Greene High School, she went on to receive her bachelors of science degree in elementary education from Western Illinois University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2017, with a masters degree from Capella University in early childhood education.

She first taught at St. Mary’s School in Mount Sterling and later as a substitute teacher for the Rushville School District. She along with her sister-in-law Penny Hackworth began Happy Beginnings Childcare and provided childcare for many years.

She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Rushville. She and her husband were Boy Scout and Girl Scout leaders. She volunteered at Camp Courage in Jacksonville.

Services were held Monday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Mike Carey officiating. Burial was in the Rushville City Cemetery.
