He was born April 24, 1959, in Rushville, a son of Kermit and Esther Butler Heitz. He married Bonnie Eck on April 25, 1980, in Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Cole (and Alaina) Heitz of Rushville and Andrew “A.J.” Heitz of Springfield; three brothers, Dennis (and Joyce) Heitz and Dean (and Kay) Heitz, both of Rushville, and Dan Heitz of Colchester; and two grandchildren.
He graduated from Rushville High School and received an associates degree in ag mechanics from Spoon River College. He was employed at Arthur Ring and Sons in Rushville, Arends Awe, Inc. in Perry, Western Illinois Equipment in Macomb and Stevens Implement in Havana as an equipment salesman.
He served as Rushville Township Trustee, Schuyler County Fair Sheep Superintendent and was a member of the Rushville High School FFA Alumni Association.
A Celebration of Life was held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville.
