William HeddenWilliam “Bill” W. Hedden, 68, of Canton died May 2, 2017, at his home in Canton.

He was born Feb. 5, 1949, in Canton, a son of Carl Kenneth Hedden and Helen Ilene Ford Hedden-Bender. He married Marla Jo (Leezer) Hedden on July 26, 1969, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are three children, Tom (and Calista) Hedden, Kandi (and Jason) Maggio and Becky (and Darren) Sherwood; one brother, John (and Kathy) Hedden of Wisconsin; two sisters, Helen (and Kenneth) St. Clair of Texas and Sherry (and Merle) Riegsecker of Ohio; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Ken and Bruce Hedden; and one sister, Nellie Lather.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart.

He worked as a postal clerk at the Peoria and Canton post offices for 30 years, retiring in 2004.

He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, as a child he also attended the Salvation Army.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Burial with military honors was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
