William HallWilliam “Bill” R. Hall, 92, of Vermont died at 11:55 p.m. Nov. 23, 2016, at Roseville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born July 5, 1924, in Hamilton, a son of Delbert and Iva Thompson Hall. He married Sandra Kay Danner on Dec. 22, 1975, in Macomb. She preceded him in death on Aug. 9, 2016.

He also was preceded in death by one brother, Dewey Hall; and one sister, Grovene Sullivan.

Surviving are three daughters, Elaine Hall, Janet Linn Downey of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Dianna Linn (and Rocky) Williams Sr. of Colchester; two step-sons, Brian Danner and Dennis (and Angie) Danner, both of Table Grove; one brother, Gene (and Darlos) Hall of Colchester; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was a carpenter his entire life.

He was in the U.S. Army, serving from 1943-45 in the 81st Engineers Battalion, Company C during World War II.

He was a member of the Vermont American Legion and attended Astoria United Methodist Church.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Robert Greene officiating. Burial was in the Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb with full military rites provided by the Vermont American Legion.
