Albert "Buss" HoodAlbert Edward “Buss” Hood, 93, of Rushville died at 12:15 p.m. Oct. 16, 2016, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born March 7, 1923, in Schuyler County, the son of John Albert and Ellen Gertrude Herron Hood. He married Myra Jeanne Taylor on July 25, 1948, in Beardstown. She preceded him in death on March 24, 1999.

He also was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Hood.

Surviving are two sons, Stephen E. (and Julie) Hood of Blairsville, Ga., and Norman A. (and Alice) Hood of Rushville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Schuyler County Farm Bureau, the Schuyler County Coyote Hunters and the NRA.

He was a lifelong farmer. He also worked briefly as a mechanic for Frank Crane in Rushville, Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria and Corn Products in Pekin. In retirement, he started Hood’s Woods and Crafts with his wife Jeannie.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Greg Fish officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
