James Hunter Jr.James Hunter Jr., 77, of Lewistown died at 3:15 p.m. June 4, 2016, at his home.

He was born Dec. 22, 1938, in rural Lewistown, a son of James Sr. and Madelon Puckett Hunter. He married Louise Hall on Feb. 28, 1960, in Bryant. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Carla (and Mike) Edwards of Lewistown and Jimelle (and Rick) Southard of Bryant; two half brothers, Robert Stutes of Colorado and Andrew Stutes Jr. of Arizona; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

He graduated from Lewistown Community High School in 1957. He worked for the Ohio River Company from 1958-66 and then retired from Caterpillar in 1996.

He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, Ky., from 1962-64.

He was a member of Lewistown United Methodist Church and their GROM Group “Grumpy Retired Old Men” and the UAW Local 974.

Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at his church with Reverend Deryck Sonaram officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown where military services will be conducted by the Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and the Lewistown American Legion Bishop Post 1. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown is in charge of arrangements.
