Dennis Heasley

Dennis G. Heasley, 73, of Astoria died at 3:10 a.m. Dec. 18, 2015, at Kindred Hospital in Peoria.

He was born May 20, 1942, in Akron, Ohio, a son of William and Bernice Derry Heasley. He married Sue Helfrick on July 16, 1998, in Camp Verde, Ark. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Tana Heasley of Sarasota, Fla.; two sons, Sean (and Sheri) Heasley of Bradenton, Fla., and Todd Heasley of Tampa, Fla.; two stepsons, Adam Stevenson of Beardstown and Jason (and Shawna) Stevenson of Pawnee; one stepdaughter, Pam (and Rick) Corbett of Astoria; one brother, Derry (and Cruz) Heasley of Massachusetts; and six grandchildren.

He was owner and operator of his own surveying company. He surveyed such projects as the Skyway Bridge and Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

He was in the Air Force from 1960-64 with a rank of Airman 2nd Class.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Berean Christian Church in Ipava. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
