She was born June 8, 1923, in Galesburg, a daughter of Robert E. and Gladys D. DeWitt Dean. She married Otis K. Howell on Oct. 4, 1965, in Las Vegas, Nev. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1971.
She also was preceded in death by one son, William Allen Young; and one nephew, Lyle Dean Hall.
Surviving are one sister, Dorcas Hall of Lincoln; one niece, Janet (and Robert) Vogt of Monticello; one nephew, Robert (and Louise) Hall of Lincoln; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She attended Fey School near Sugar Grove, Schuyler County and Rushville High School.
She worked for J. C. Penney Co. in Pomona, Calif., Jacksonville and Galesburg from 1957 until retiring in 1976.
She attended Rushville First United Methodist Church when her health permitted.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Rushville City Cemetery with Rev. Grant Armstrong officiating. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
