MAYDEAN L. (SWATOSH) HUNTER

Maydean Hunter

Maydean L. Hunter, 91, of Astoria died at 4:10 a.m. Aug. 29, 2013, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born May 2, 1922, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Louis E. and Emma L. VanCura Swatosh. She married Woodrow W. Hunter on April 14, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1974.

She also was preceded in death by one nephew, Merlyn Hunter; and one great-nephew, David Hunter.

Surviving are one niece, Margaret Hunter of Browning; and two great-nephews, John (and Rhonda) Hunter of Browning and Richard (and Janet) Hunter of Astoria.

She worked for Crane Packing Company and IBM in Chicago. She also worked for Collins Radio, Link Belt Speeder Company and LaPlant Choate Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She was a member of College Club and Daughters of the Nile #68 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial was in Browning Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to South Fulton Senior Citizens Center in Astoria or Astoria Public Library.
