Earl HilbererEarl G. Hilberer, 84, of Springfield died at 3:30 a.m. Aug. 21, 2013, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.

He was born Nov. 30, 1928, in Gillespie, a son of Walter and Amelia Gerdt Hilberer. He married Clara Mae Pilger on March 4, 1956, in Beardstown. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Pamela Hilberer and Patricia Musgrove, both of Springfield; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and an infant brother.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He graduated from Gillespie High School and Michigan State University.

He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

He retired from Franklin Life Insurance Company in 1986 after 30 years of service.

Services were held Monday at Staab Funeral Home in Springfield with Reverend Thomas Radtke officiating. Burial was in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail conducted military honors.
