Mary HammMary Pat Hamm, 90, of Beardstown, formerly of Rushville, died at 3:05 p.m. Dec. 17, 2012, at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Beardstown.

She was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Pawnee, a daughter of Vernon and Mary Leheney Allen. She married Verle Gibble Hamm on Oct. 16, 1948, in Pawnee. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1983.

She also was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Theresa Kay Hamm; one brother, John Allen; and one sister, Catherine Allen.

Surviving are three daughters, Rita Crosby of Beardstown, Carol Hartley of Crystal Lake and Gayle (and Mike) Michelon of Rochester Hills, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She first worked for C and IM Railroad in Springfield. Later, she worked for over 25 years as a bookkeeper at the J.C. Penney store in Rushville. After her retirement, she was a greeter at Wal-Mart in Beardstown.

She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Rushville, where she was active with the Altar and Rosary Society. After she moved to Beardstown, she attended St. Alexius Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown with Reverend Chris Brey officiating. Burial will follow in Astoria Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Activity Fund at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Beardstown.
