James E. Hughes, 68, of Liverpool died at 12:20 a.m. April 8, 2011, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.James E. Hughes, 68, of Liverpool died at 12:20 a.m. April 8, 2011, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Aug. 25, 1942, in Liverpool, a son of Herman and Imogene Cooper Hughes. He married Nita Keene on July 15, 1983, in Lewistown. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Clayton A. (and Trisha) Hughes of Lewistown and James E. Hughes of Illinois; one stepdaughter, Jennifer (and Michael) Jockisch of Lewistown; one stepson, Jeffrey Graham of Lewistown; four sisters, Shirley (and Gary) Legg of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Elsie (and Larry) Jones of Havana, Kathy (and Gary) Smart of Canton and Karen Howell of Springfield; one brother, David Shaw of Minnesota; two grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Gary.
He retired from Caterpillar Mapleton Plant.
He was a member of UAW and St. David Optimist Club.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. Inurnment will be held at Apple Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
