Frederick HainesFrederick HainesFrederick Baxter Haines, 85, of Vermont died at 4:55 p.m. March 18, 2010, at Culbertson Long Term Care Center in Rushville.
He was born Aug. 22, 1924, in Vermont, the son of Frederick and Dorothy Hart Haines. He married Barbara Anne Thwaite in 1945. She preceded him in death in 1989.
He also was preceded in death by one sister.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen Michael Haines of Hohenau, Paraguay, and Kevin Scott Haines of Vermont; one sister, Marian Cook of Tulsa, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II and Korean War.
He was a member of Vermont Christian Church and Vermont American Legion.
Services were held Tuesday at his church with Rev. Tim Gilliland officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
