Ronald G. Hampton, 67, of Rushville died at 9:45 p.m. Aug. 14, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born April 4, 1942, in Lewistown, a son of Prentice G. and Elma J. Akison Hampton. He married Lita Anderson on Aug. 15, 1964, in Vermont. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Mike (and Sherrie) Hampton of Rushville and Mark (and Amy) Hampton of Table Grove; one brother, Richard Hampton of Abingdon; one sister, Betty (and Jim) Bohannon of Sullivan, Ind.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Hampton.

He was an Army veteran serving from 1963 to 1969.

He farmed his entire life in the Vermont area.

He was a member of Carroll Rankin American Legion Post #26 of Vermont and Schuyler County Farm Bureau.

Services were held Tuesday with military rites conducted by Carroll Rankin American Legion Post #26 of Vermont at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Dixie Croxton officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Vermont Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to American Lung Association or Carroll Rankin American Legion Post #26 of Vermont.
