Paul HeffrenPaul F. “Irish” Heffren, of Lewistown died at 6:32 p.m. April 29, 2009, at his home.

He was born April 6, 1932, in Waterford Township, Fulton County, a son of John Frederick and Mary Eva Mann Heffren. He married Marjorie Bradley on July 23, 1948, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Michael (and Denise) Heffren of Staunton; one daughter, Kathy (and Bill) Grzanich of Lewistown; one twin sister, Marilee Bowman; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

He was a World War II Navy Airforce veteran, and was a life member of Lewistown VFW Post 5001.

He had worked for 32 years at Illinois Power in Havana. He also farmed and operated Orchard Hill at rural Lewistown.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lewistown, Lewistown American Legion Bishop Post 1, Canton Moose Lodge and Alligator Club. He also served on Fulton County Board.

A funeral mass was held Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lewistown, with Monsignor Robert O’Connor officiating. Burial was in Waterford Cemetery with military rites accorded by his VFW and American Legion Posts.
