Vince HeinzVince P. Heinz, 52, of Frederick died at 7:55 p.m. Feb. 17, 2009, at his home.

He was born June 6, 1956, in Peoria, a son of Gilbert and Marilyn Arnold Heinz. He married Pamella Kettering on Aug. 5, 1979, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Brittany Heinz of Chicago; his mother of Rushville; four brothers, Mike (and Deni) Heinz and Rolly (and Kate) Heinz, both of Rushville, Rick (and Becky) Heinz of Las Vegas, Nev., and Gilbert Jr. (and fiancée Tracy Whitlow) Heinz of Decatur; and four sisters, Joyce (and Danny) Baggott of Peoria, Lorrie (and Ed) Brownfield of Manito, Cherie Heinz of Galesburg and Marnie (and Brian) Eskridge of Canton.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Heinz; and one brother, Randy Heinz.

He was a 1974 graduate of Rushville High School.

He first worked in Illinois and later in Ohio as national marketing director for MMCA Insurance. He was the leader of the bands Heinz Sight and Jonahs Wail, where he was a vocalist, guitar player and songwriter.

He later was manager of Boehm’s Lawn and Garden in Rushville. He owned The Pond Doctor, that began in 2001. He recently installed his 100th ornamental water garden. He was a Master Gardener, giving presentations and classes for home and garden shows, University of Illinois Extension Service, Spoon River College and Lincoln Land College.

Services were held Saturday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with David Haney officiating. Burial was in Boling Cemetery in rural Rushville.
