Shirley Hoffman

Shirley J. Hoffman, 70, of Canton, formerly of Lewistown, died at 12:45 a.m. Jan. 11, 2007, at her home.

She was born July 28, 1936, in Menard County, a daughter of Elzie L. and Christy E. Edwards Forbis. She married James A. Hoffman on Feb. 17, 1961, in Canton. He died Aug. 24, 1976.

Surviving are two sons, Junior A. (and Patty) and Christopher P., both of Canton; one sister, Christine E. Bullock of Canton; and eight grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Western Illinois University in Macomb, and was employed over 30 years by the Court Services Department of the Ninth Judicial District in Lewistown.

She was a member of Lewistown United Methodist Church and Covenant Community Fellowship in Canton. She was active in the Wesley Prison Ministries and Walk to Emmaus.

Services were held Monday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Kevin Van Tine officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.

Memorials may be made to Covenant Community Fellowship, Spoon River Hospice of Graham Hospital or Lewistown United Methodist Church.
