Lila Mae Henderson

Lila Mae Henderson, 88, of Cuba died at 12:06 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 16, 1916, in Harris Township, a daughter of Ray and Ruth Robinson Henderson. She married Dale E. Henderson on March 31, 1934, in Palmyra, Mo. He died Aug. 21, 1983.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Sheldon W. Hooper and infant Eugene Robinson Hooper; and one grandchild.

Surviving are two sons, Marvin (and Hazel) of Smithfield and Dale (and Marilyn) of Urbana, Ohio; four daughters, Leigh (and Pat) Dissman of Sebring, Fla., Darlene (and Kay) White of Marietta, Donna (and John) Shaw of Smithfield and Dorris (and Larry) Weaver of Lewistown; one half-sister, Sandra Taylor of Rockford; one stepbrother, Robert Kriedler of Carlisle, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She and her husband had farmed in the Sinnett Chapel area for many years.

She was a charter member of the Get-to-gether Club, Royal Neighbors Lodge and the Bureau Extension Cuba Unit, where she had been treasurer and chairman of the advisory board.

She was a charter mother of the Cuba FHA and a Cub Scout leader.

She also served on the advisory board of the Senior Citizen's Board and was treasurer of the PTA.

She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Cuba Lodge, where she served as Matron of Honor three times. She later joined the Order of Eastern Star Ipava Lodge, serving as chaplain one year.

She had been a member of Sinnett Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Cuba.

Services were held Tuesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Joe Tomich officiating. Burial was in Henderson Cemetery in rural Cuba.

Memorials may be made to the Grant Keime Memorial Trust or to the Cuba Senior Citizens Center.
