Frank T. Herink, 84, of Peoria died at 2:17 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Canton, a son of Frank and Ana Spenny Herink. He married Jeanette Haueisen on March 2, 1946, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Dr. Curtis (and Kitty) of Macon, Ga., and Thomas of West Peoria; one brother, Homer (and Margaret) of Canton; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by one infant son, Carl; and four brothers.

A World War II Navy veteran, he served with the 119 NCB Seabees in the South Pacific. He was a life member of the Navy Seabee Veterans of American Island X-4 in Peoria.

He worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria as a tool designer, until retiring in 1982.

He was an American Red Cross volunteer.

He was a member of the Peoria Heights Community Band and Peoria Area Senior Citizens Band.

He was a member of Arcadia Avenue Presbyterian Church, where a memorial service will be held Saturday with Rev. Dr. Ken Shedenhelm officiating. Family will receive friends one hour before services at the church. He donated his body to medical science. Burial of ashes will be in Parkview Cemetery at a later date. Schmidt-Haller Burial and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society or Friendship House.
