Vera Head

Vera F. Head, 82, of Bushnell died at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.

She was born Feb. 3, 1919, in Vermont, a daughter of Ira and Fannie Hoopes Brown. She married Fred Wells on June 20, 1954, in Bushnell. He died March 24, 1967. She married Ivan Head on June 25, 1969, in Bushnell. He died Sept. 30, 1988.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, one sister, one stepson and one stepdaughter.

Surviving are one brother, Earnest Brown of Carthage; two stepdaughters, Wilma Jean (and Don) Downs of Peoria Heights and Sharon (and Ron) Osborn of Estero, Fla.; eight stepgrandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.

She owned a variety store in Table Grove before moving to Bushnell, where she worked for Central Illinois Public Service for 32 years, retiring in 1984.

She was a member of Bushnell Presbyterian Church, the Deacon's Women's League and Church Women United.

Services were held Saturday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home with Revs. Gordon Jones and Terry Broady officiating. Burial was in Bushnell Cemetery.
