Carol Howard

Carol L. Howard, 72, of New Philadelphia, died at 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at his home.

He was born Aug. 3, 1927, in Marietta, a son of John Newton and Daisy Irene Haffner Howard. He married Melba Boden on July 24, 1944, in Keokuk, Iowa. She died on Oct. 31, 1965.

Surviving are two sons, Johnny (and Vickie) and James (and Diana), both of New Philadelphia; three daughters, Carolyn (and Jerry) Stutsman and Cheri (and Lawson “Butch”) Barklay, both of Macomb, and Connie Sue (and David) Hendrickson of New Philadelphia; two brothers, Newton (and Betty) of Bushnell and Wayne (and Jean) of Carthage; one sister, Irene (and Bill) Schisler of Ipava; nine grandchildren; and Carol Kennedy, with whom he made his home.

He owned and operated Howard Motors in New Philadelphia since 1954.

He was a member of New Philadelphia United Methodist Church and the Macomb Elks Lodge in Macomb.

Services are today at 1 p.m. at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell with Rev. Mary Jo. Williams officiating. Burial is in Bushnell Cemetery in Bushnell.

Memorials may be made to his church or McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program.
