Willis Hendee

Willis M. Hendee, 92, of Astoria died at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at Astoria Healthcare Center.

He was born July 31, 1907, in Lewistown, a son of Melvin and Bessie Smith Hendee. He married Emaline Johnson in 1940 in Canton. She died in 1957.

He married Edith Ford in 1959 in Smithfield. She died in 1979.

He later married Velma Rouse in 1980 in Pennville, Mo. She died in 1992.

He also was preceded in death by one great-grandson, two sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are two sons, Lee (Bonnie) of Hager City, Wis., and Lyle (Diane) of Lemons, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Leladel Davis of Canton and Luwella Millard of Morton.

A farmer, he also was employed at Vaughan and Bushnell Manufacturing Co. in Bushnell, retiring in 1972.

He was a member of Berean Christian Church in Ipava.

Graveside services were held Friday at Point Pleasant Cemetery near Marietta with Gary Sheets officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
