Ruth H. Hathway, 82, of Carle Arbours Nursing Home in Savoy, formerly of Peoria, died at 12:35 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at the home.
She was born Jan. 8, 1916, in Table Grove, a daughter of Howard and Ora Wood Hammond. She married Clifford Hathway Sr. on June 1, 1940, in Table Grove. He died Sept. 8, 1989, in Peoria. Two sisters also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Gene (Debbie) McDermott of Champaign; four sons, Dr. Stephen of Green Bay, Wis., John of South Barrington, Michael of Fayetteville, Ark., and Clifford Jr. of Birmingham, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Peoria, where she served as an elder and Sunday school teacher. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Bel-Wood Nursing Home.
Services were held this afternoon at Wilton Mortuary with Rev. Karen Merrick officiating. Entombment was in American Mausoleum.
