Carl Harre

Carl Glen Harre, 82, of Beardstown, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, at Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

He was born April 24, 1914, in Beardstown, the son of Carl William and Erna Reick Harre. He married Rozella Dodds on June 11, 1989, in Beardstown. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Betty Loughary and Kay Ann Surratt, both of Beardstown, and Nancee Bales of Crete; three stepdaughters, Nancy Trone and Jean Burgett, both of Beardstown, and Linda Dodds of Union City, Tenn.; three stepsons, Darwin and Ted Dodds, both of Frederick, and Russell Dodds of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Two daughters, Glenna and Charlotte Harre, and one sister preceded him in death.

He owned the former Harre Coal Co. He was a certified welder at several nuclear power plants and at Trinity Steel. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a 55-year member of Cass Masonic Lodge 23, AF&AM, and was a former member of the B.P.O. Elks Club. He was a former guide for the Bowman Gun Club.

Funeral services were held Monday at Sager Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Sheese officiating. Burial was in Oetgen Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the building fund at his church.
