Dean Huff

D. Dean Huff, 74, of Lewistown, died at 2:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 1996, at his residence.

He was born March 9, 1922, in Summum, a son of Otis and Lorano Bates Huff. He married Lila L. Fidler on June 9, 1945, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Dennis D. Huff of East Peoria; one daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Marsha) Sutphen of Lewistown; and five grandchildren.

Two brothers preceded him in death.

He worked in the banking field in Lewistown for 30 years, first working for the former Lewistown National Bank and later at Farmers State Bank, where he served as chairman of the board until retiring in 1987. He was a member of Lewistown United Methodist Church and United Methodist Men’s Club. He served on the Lewistown Township Board of Assessors as trustee and supervisor. He served as vice chairman of the Fulton County Board. He served as treasurer of the Lewistown Grade School District and past treasurer of Kertin Valley Drainage and Levee District and Lewistown Fire Protection District. He served on the board for Lewistown Carnegie Library. He was a member of Lewistown Masonic Lodge 140, AF&AM; Lewistown Order of Eastern Star; Peoria Consistory; Mohammed Temple, Shrine; Fulton County Shrine Club; and Fulton County Scottish Rite Club.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at his church with Rev. Jon Sims officiating. Masonic services were held. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Henry Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to his church or to Spoon River Hospice or Graham Hospital in Canton.
