Graveside services for Hazel A. Hopkins, 93, of Davenport, Iowa, who died Friday, Aug. 30, 1996, were held Tuesday, Sept. 3, 1996, at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.
She was born Feb. 3, 1903, in Browning, the daughter of Harry and Effie Gibson Spiller. She was raised by her grandparents, Levi “Pete” and Hannah Gibson. She married Kenneth B. Hopkins on March 29, 1921, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1988.
Survivors are two daughters, Anita Buchholz of Davenport, Iowa, and Rosemary Sletten of Peoria; one son, Henry G. Hopkins of Davenport, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was self employed as a florist at the Hopkins Floral Shop in the Augusta-Rushville area. She was a past member of the Augusta Christian Church and a charter member of the Spiritualist Harmony Church in Davenport, Iowa.
The Runge Mortuary in Davenport was in charge of arrangements.
